1) Swimmer Maana Patel became the first female and third Indian swimmer to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

➨ She will be the third Indian swimmer at Tokyo Games after Srihari Nataraj and Sajan Prakash qualified to secure direct entries.

➨Indian woman swimmer Maana Patel's participation in the Tokyo Olympics has been confirmed through 'Universality quota'.


2) Senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer and seasoned diplomat Reenat Sandhu has been appointed as Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and she took over the charge from senior bureaucrat Vikas Swarup, who retired on June 30.


3) Taking forward the activities and programmes of National Horticulture Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India opened centre in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

10) Andhra Pradesh Chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the YSR Bima scheme with new guidelines and paid Rs 750 crore as the premium. The guidelines were changed to facilitate the state government paying the insurance amount directly to the family of the deceased.

11) The 7th edition of Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), a biennial event, was hosted by the French Navy at La Réunion from 28 June to 01 July 2021.

12) India called on Pakistan to ensure early release and repatriation of Indian civilian prisoners and missing defence personnel languishing in Pakistani jails.

➨The two countries exchanged lists of civilian prisoners and fishermen in each other’s custody in line with the provisions of a 2008 agreement.


13) The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched its Saral Pension, an Individual Immediate Annuity Plan, with effect from July 1, 2021. An annuity is a financial product that makes regular payment to its buyer as per the agreed terms and conditions.

14) Grene Robotics, a Hyderabad-based company into building autonomous technologies, has developed an indigenous autonomous drone defence dome called Indrajaal.

➨Indrajaal is capable of protecting a large area of 1,000-2,000 sq km per system against threats such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), incoming weapons (missiles), loitering munitions and Low-Radar Cross Section (low flying) targets autonomously.


15) A Special Assistance Scheme for COVID Mortalities (SASCM) has been announced by the Jammu and Kashmir Administration to aid the families who are bearing the brunt of the lethal Coronavirus in the Union Territory.
